In Memoriam: Francis and Anne Armstrong’s Church Window in Cloonacool

There’s a small Roman Catholic church in Cloonacool in County Sligo, Ireland with approximately ten stained glass windows dedicated to local individuals and families.

In 2008, my brother and his wife visited the church and took photos of the window that honors the memory of our great-great-great grandparents Francis and Anne Leonard Armstrong of Tullyvellia.

Francis and Anne moved to a farm in the Townland of Tullyvellia in 1876, when a sharp increase in rent forced them off their leased farmlands in the Townland of Derreens.

I haven’t been able to track down an official name online for the small Catholic church in Cloonacool, but sooner or later something will turn up or someone will let us know what it is. For the time being, though, its name remains a mystery.

If you’re interested in seeing the other stained glass windows in the church, check out this link:  http://www.skynet.ie/~dan/cloonacoolchurch.htm

Update: St. Michael’s Church, Cloonacool

The mystery of the name of the Catholic church in Cloonacool has been solved. Thank you for the photos William Coleman.
