February 20, 2018

M. P. Carroll (1841-1920) was an Augusta, Georgia attorney and Confederate army veteran. He wrote John F. Armstrong this condolence letter on 21 January 1887, the day after Sarah McAndrew Armstrong (c1846-1887) died. Carroll, like JF, was a founding member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Augusta, so their wives and children would have known each other.
