Jan. 29, 1887 Condolence Letter from John J. Fitzgibbon of Chicago

John J. Fitzgibbon of Chicago wrote this letter of condolence to John F. Armstrong on 29 January 1887. Fitzgibbon’s obituary in Chicago’s Inter Ocean newspaper (2 October 1892) noted that he was “a prominent Irish Nationalist, and was thoroughly identified with all movements tending toward the emancipation of Ireland from British rule”. At the time of his death, he was president of Calamet National Bank in South Chicago.
